It has been nearly four years since purchasing marijuana for recreational use became legal in New Mexico. Since then, sales in the state for both adult and medical use have surpassed $2 billion.
The state saw sales cross the $2 billion threshold in November 2025, and combined monthly sales by licensed cannabis retailers in 2025 averaged just over $47 million, according to KRQE News 13’s analysis of data from the state’s Cannabis Control Division.
