A shooting Tuesday evening at a cannabis dispensary in Sandoval County left a woman injured and a man facing charges of aggravated assault, aggravated battery and negligent use of a deadly weapon.
Colin Dana Sandoval, owner of Loonie Zoonie Cannabis in Peña Blanca, was arrested after an altercation with a man and a woman who entered his store around 6:30 p.m. and refused to leave, according to the criminal complaint. As the situation escalated, Sandoval County sheriff’s deputies believe Sandoval fired both a “warning shot” and a second round from his firearm — the latter of which caused the gun to malfunction and left the back of the woman’s head bleeding, according to the complaint.
Sandoval was released from jail Wednesday on his own recognizance. A preliminary examination is scheduled for Feb. 11 in Sandoval County Magistrate Court.
